Showstoppers (Ace, Nyssa, Turlough, Tegan, Fitz, others, PGish)
doyle_sb4 asked to see "Ace getting Nyssa shitfaced drunk"; in the spirit of the community, I've riffed off things established in both Doyle and van's stories, and also, it's mainly-plotless crack.

Showstoppers, ~1050 words, PGish

“Holy hell, McShane, look at that spread!”

Ace smirked. “All in a day’s work, Tyler,” she replied, surveying the rows of booze with satisfaction. It had cost her all of her spending money for the rest of the year, as well as all the money she’d made on bets and sporting wagers, but your roommate only turned sixteen once, after all. And getting Nyssa to let loose would be worth every penny.

“Pretty slick spot to hold the party,” Rose said. They were ensconced in a grove hidden in the forest between the two schools; Ace had strung some fairy lights around a few of the trees, and a bonfire was flickering to life in the middle.

Ace shrugged. “Saw the Headmistress coming here last week while I was out on my nature ramble – don’t worry,” she said at Rose’s worried look, “she didn’t see me following her. So I figure it’s a pretty safe spot.”

“So long as she doesn’t come back tonight,” Rose said, but she laughed and shook her head. “I have in no way officially approved this party anyway, so it’s on your head whatever goes down.”

“Good by me,” Ace said, poking the fire with a stick to get it going. “Stay here and watch this, and watch out for the others; I’ve got to go get Nyssa, she’ll forget to come otherwise, the bookworm.”

The party, of course, had been strictly by invitation only; and of course, half of the students at both schools had managed to find their way over by the time Ace and Nyssa got back.

“Ace!” Mickey called, waving at her with a cold bottle of beer in his hand. “Come have a drink! Great party!”

Ace just waved back and steered Nyssa towards the drinks; Jack was watching from across the other side of the grove, a brooding look on his face. No time for that nonsense tonight, she thought – there was drinking to be done.

“Hey! Listen up!” she said loudly, standing on a tree trunk, after ensuring Nyssa had a good stiff drink in her hand. “This is Nyssa, and she’s sixteen tonight!” she said, gesturing at her roommate, who had gone bright red. The crowd whooped and clapped. “So don’t drink all my hard-earned alcohol, and have fun!”

“Jesus, McShane, it’s not like you don’t have enough for an army here,” Fitz said, ambling over with Jo on his arm.

“You don’t know Nyssa,” Ace said, turning grim. “You see how skinny that girl is?” Fitz looked over and had to bite his tongue hard to keep from agreeing that Nyssa’s form was very pleasing and slim indeed. “You should see how much she eats!” Ace continued. “It’s like she’s got some sort of alien metabolism or something, it’s freaky. So I figure it’ll take more than the usual to get her good and pissed.”

“It’s your funeral,” Fitz replied, and wandered off towards where Tegan and Turlough were downing shots at an alarming rate, both getting more than a little bit flushed and disheveled as they tried to outdo the other.

“That was a lovely drink, Ace, thank you,” Nyssa said, coming over, empty glass in her hand. “Very sweet! So is that it?”

“You wish, sweetheart,” Ace said, grinning. “Here, let’s get in on the shots.”

Ace declared Nyssa well and truly trashed exactly one hour and seventeen minutes and a mind-boggling amount of alcohol later. She based this on the fact that it was at that moment that Nyssa had decided she simply couldn’t bear the heat of the fire any longer, and had stood up and matter-of-factly stripped off her skirt.

“Hell-o,” Turlough said, propped up against a tree. Ace glared at him, but Nyssa took no notice.

“Oh, Ace, let’s dance!” she said, moving towards open ground and stumbling over her own feet.

“C’mon, I’ve got you,” Ace said, pulling her upright. “There’s a good girl.” She started swaying slowly with Nyssa, who closed her eyes with a blissful look on her face.

“I feel like I should be paying for this,” Mickey said to no one in particular, staring at the girls. Jack leaned over and smacked him on the back of the head.

Ace laughed, and twirled Nyssa around. Nyssa shrieked and giggled, tossing her head back to look up at the stars.

“They look so close,” she said, smiling. “Oh, Ace, can’t I have one more drink? I liked that pink one. No, the blue one. No, all of them.”

“Won’t be much of a birthday if you’re puking tomorrow,” Ace said, but Nyssa was already back at the liquor and pouring herself a hefty drink.

“Oh, I love parties!” Nyssa said, giggling, as she downed her drink and fell over backwards into Turlough’s lap.

“I’ll take care of her, McShane, don’t worry!” Turlough called out as Ace was restrained from punching him by both Mickey and Jack. “Sure I will, pretty girl,” he crooned, taking Nyssa’s face in his hands.

Nyssa grinned. “Has anyone ever told you that you look like Mel?” she said. “You’re both ginger!”

Tegan jumped in to pull Nyssa away as Turlough turned a purplish shade of red.

“Doesn’t suit your complexion, boy,” Tegan said, laughing. “C’mon, Nyssa,” she said, leading the girl to a quiet spot. “You’re a menace to yourself like this. Here we go. Watch out for your feet.”

“Who’s up for another round?” Ace called out quickly to distract the crowd. “Finish it up, no sense letting this go to waste!”

Twenty-one students were too sick to go to class the next day.

“Turn the light off!” Ace moaned, pillow over her head. “I swear, I’m not going to live to see seventeen myself.”

“I’ll take notes for you,” Nyssa promised. “Poor Ace. It’s a good thing I didn’t get that drunk so one of us could go to class!”

Ace sat up straight. “Not drunk?” she said, incredulously. “Not drunk? Holy hell, Nyssa, you’re a right piece of work.”

“It was fun, though!” Nyssa said, “I had a fantastic time, thank you. I just wish I knew what happened to my skirt. I loved that one.”

Ace’s laughter followed Nyssa out the door, who shut it, frowning as Tegan hurried past, blushing to the roots of her hair.

Ace is such a good friend and a good lesson to never underestimate Nyssa!

Oh dear, I seem to have forgotten that Tegan rooms with Donna, not Nyssa, fie, hahahahaha. I have to go correct mine. XD

But this was so very fun. I love all the little niggling hints here and there that things aren't quite right--Nyssa being alien, for one. XD And Turlough being mistaken for Mel and trying to out do Tegan in shots and eeee.

This damn thing should not be so full of yay.
Worrals: That's our Mickey and why we love him.livii on October 2nd, 2007 03:33 pm (UTC)
Oh, heh, I didn't even notice in yours - no worries, this is the loosest fictional universe EVAH. Whatever works!

And hee, glad you liked it! :D
Van: Doctor Who: 2/J/Z pocket-sizedvan on October 2nd, 2007 03:36 pm (UTC)
ahahaha, yeah. I had randomly writing that Tegan was rooming with Nyssa. My brain is like THAT IS LOGICAL since they room together in canon. But now I have changed it so she's with Donna as proper. XDXD

I love this whole world. I want to crosspost my fic though, and I'm afraid that no one will have a clue. XDXDXD
Worrals: books 4 teh WIN!livii on October 3rd, 2007 02:44 am (UTC)
I see Tegan and Nyssa as being different ages, so...but they still totally hook up. ;)

Yeah this does not have crosspost potential, heh. I did ask to have the comm watched though so if you give it header info and stuff I'm sure it could go in the daily?
Vanvan on October 3rd, 2007 02:49 am (UTC)
I did give it a header, though who knows if that'll help. I was thinking of crossposting it to whofic.com... maybe if I put a disclaimer explanation in the notes/summary, linking back to the comm? hhahahahahaha. I mean, basically it's just a High School AU, right? Hahahaha.

And yes, Tegan and Nyssa are definitely different ages and it totally makes sense that Nyssa would be in the lower form dorm rooms, etc. but my brain was just like "Duh, they're roommates!" Silly me.

I bed Tegan and Donna get into the best rows.
Worrals: Ten/Donna!livii on October 3rd, 2007 03:10 am (UTC)
Oh, yeah, putting it on whofic is a great idea, with a link back so that we're pimping to that audience, woo! The comm totally needs more people to keep joining so that it stays being so awesome. :D

Tegan and Donna get into the best rows.

And then have SMOKING HOT make up sex yes, I agree.

*clap, giggle* And yet more YAY! This is the AU that just keeps on giving the glee. Someday, somehow I will get up the gomption to write something in it.

And Miss Jovanka? Blushing? Ooo-er, do we even want to know?

"And then my skirt FELL OFF!" is a crucial piece of Nyssa's character and one that is sadly overlooked in most fic. *loves on this*

It seems that Nyssa has the Role Playing Game (RPG for short) Character Advantage of "Consume unlimited quantities of alcohol without ill-effect", & as such, I see a lot of drinking contests in her future, probably versus Adric ....
Mind you, how much did Ace make back in wagers...?
