Character List!
And now we need to at least loosely define the role each character plays in the 'verse. Do feel free to mix it up as you like for stories, but we'll try to have this to keep things somewhat on track. Jump in with suggestions where I have not come up with one, or to flesh it out, if you object to things, or if I have missed characters (very easy to do with so many characters and with many spin-off companions I don't know, and basically everyone is welcome).

Ace: lower-form student, rooms with Nyssa, swings both ways, sometimes dates Mickey, sometimes dates Jack
Adam: lower-form student, rooms with Chang Lee, Vice-President of the Robotics Club

K-9: upper-form student, rooms with Mike Yates
Leela: upper-form student, cheerleading captain, rooms with Polly, sometimes dates Romana II
Liz: upper-form student, president of the Science Club, rooms with Grace
Martha: upper-form student, prefect, rooms with Rose, dates Harry frequently
Mel: upper-form student, rooms with Jo, captain of the lacrosse team
Mickey: upper-form student, rooms with Turlough, sometimes dates Ace
Mike Yates: upper-form student, sometimes dates the Brigadier, rooms with K-9
Nyssa: lower-form student, rooms with Ace, sometimes dates Tegan
Peri: upper-form student, president of the International Society, rooms with Sarah Jane
Polly: upper-form student, captain of the field hockey team, rooms with Leela
Romana I: lower-form student, rooms with Romana II
Romana II: upper-form student, rooms with Romana I, sometimes dates Leela

Sarah Jane: upper-form student, editor of the girls' school student newspaper, rooms with Peri
Steven: upper-form student, Debating Club captain, rooms with Fitz
Susan: lower-form student, rooms with Vicki
Tegan: upper-form student, Debating Club captain, rooms with Donna, sometimes dates Nyssa
The Master: headmaster of the boys' school, involved with the Rani, evil (running his school as a social experiment on humans)
The Rani: headmistress of the girls' school, involved with the Master, evil (running her school as a social experiment on humans)
Turlough: upper-form student, rooms with Mickey, cuts class with Fitz
Vicki: lower-form student, rooms with Susan, president of the Archaeology Club
Victoria: lower-form student, rooms with Zoe, president of the Needlepoint Club
Zoe: lower-form student, rooms with Victoria, sometimes dates Ian, student librarian

The Doctor: not appearing as such in this AU; presently a wee baby with a pocket watch.

Teachers: none are set in stone other than the headmaster and headmistress; excellent suggestions have been made to use various villains from the DW verse. Feel free to pick and choose as you like, and if certain characters become entrenched I will add them to this 'canon' list.

Locations: if certain locations become entrenched, I will add them to this list as well to work up a general vision of the area. At present, down in the next village is a pub with a stag's head on the wall, where students like to congregate. The schools also have a lake between them, where some Sea Devils live.

(The general rule here: the characters are students, but write them as themselves, as younger versions of themselves, as gay, straight, mixed, take 'rooms with' the wrong way (I know I will for the girls...), anything at all. HAVE FUN). Also: I'm imagining the Master as the Delgado!Master, as he's my favourite and is just the one who would pretend to be a headmaster, but do feel free to mix it up as desired.

Van: Doctor Who: Jamie/Victoriavan on September 25th, 2007 08:25 am (UTC)
Jamie needs to be co-captain of the cheer squad. Or perhaps captain of the dance team, thus teaching all the Highland Fling. Or drum major, leading with bagpipes, hahahahaah. I think he should room with Steven, but Steven is a upper-form and I don't know if upper/lower room together like that? Hahahaha.

He's totally got a crush on Victoria, trufax. I bet she runs something daft like the needlepoint club. XDXDXD

Oh this is so fun, hahahahaa, help.

Jamie and Steven yes! I put Steven with Yates but will change that. Upper-lower who cares. The Master and the Rani think it teaches excellent life skills, handwave, handwave. :D

Co-captain for Jamie it is. The crush part will fill in naturally I think. I just included the Rose-Benton-Harry-Martha bit because I am so batshit insane over it, hee!

I'm assuming there are two prefects for each set of students, right? In which case, we need another boy prefect! My recommendation is that it be the Brigadier. And then he will hate rooming with Jack, who probably doesn't know how to follow the rules AT ALL.

Augh this is so ridiculously fun.

A non-native question
Since I'm not from the UK / US and a tad unsure about this - what age are we talking about when saying lower-form or upper-form student?
Worrals: Barbara is the fucking grooviest chicklivii on September 25th, 2007 04:36 pm (UTC)
Re: A non-native question
I am probably using them totally wrong...generally I'm thinking ages 14/15-18/19, so lower-form is on the two-three years lower end, upper-form on the two-three years upper end. Didn't want to make things too specific. If I get straightened out by an actual Brit, I will let you know. :D

Are Mel and Vicki sisters? (I ask as they're in different years but sharing a room)
Worrals: Ten/Donna!livii on September 25th, 2007 05:57 pm (UTC)
No...I sort of thought that the Rani and the Master would call it a "good learning experience" to room with students of different ages, and also, it's bloody hard to match everyone up by age as well as temperament, heh. But I'm not 100% sold on Mel and Vicki rooming so am happy to change that to anything better you suggest!

This is so cool.

I was going to ask what you meant by lower and upper, but I see someone else already did. As a Brit, secondary school at least, on the old system is:

age 11-12 First year
age 12-13 Second year
age 13-14 Third year
age 14-15 Fourth year
age 15-16 Fifth year
age 16-18 Sixth form (16-17 is lower sixth and 17-18 is upper sixth)

On the new system, that started about 1991 they're numbered from Year to Year 13, although sixth form is still called sixth form.

I don't know about other schools, but non-sixth form was called main school. Mine was a bit different though, in that secondary school started with the second year.

Between ages 14-16 they'd be doing GCSEs, so fewer subjects, and sixth form is where they do A levels, which means 3 subjects ish (or at least it did when I did them, they've since changed the system and I don't quite understand it).

Ooh fun! I look forward to reading! And I actually went to a proper English boarding school, so am happy to advise on terminology if anyone wants. 'Prefects' at my place were called 'School Monitors' which I think sounds so much cuter :) Boarding schools seem to always have a vocabulary all their own, eg our teachers were called 'beaks', homework was 'banco', dinner was 'homebill'... And schools are usually divided up into different boarding houses (so people from different years live in the same boarding house, and you stay in one house throughout your time at the school) all of which have very silly names too, and have great rivalries between them...
Nicparanoidangel42 on September 25th, 2007 09:40 pm (UTC)
We had houses in primary school, which were named after local areas. And had great rivalries between them too, so that's not just a boarding school thing.

Sarah Jane rooming with Peri!? OH MY.
Peri + bikini = totally different Sarah Jane by the end of that - or even-more-straight-laced Sarah Jane, intrepid girl reporter notwithstanding. :)

And right now I'm thinking Leela stormed into her shared room and said "I want THAT bunk" and Polly was all "Uh okay no prob." But I could be wrong!

I want me some Benton/Brigadier.

...I kinda ran out of options, and they were the last two left in the same upper-form situation. I kinda think it would be odd-couple hilarious, in that Peri would drive Sarah Jane mental. ;)

Polly is totally capable of holding her own - why I gave her Leela! I mean, Leela will win a fight, but Polly will be strong against her, and it will be awesome in my mind!

Van suggested Benton crushing on the Brig, Rose getting jealous and breaking up with him, various shenanigans, getting back together...oh, it's so awesome. :D :D

You know, we totally need to have C'rizz there. Because he's awesome and has an exoskeleton. He could run Campus Crusade For The Foundation and date Charley.

And we could have Thomas Brewster as his roommate and they could be in the lower form. (Brewster is a Victorian street urchin turned petty criminal. He's in three of the Fivey and Nyssa audios, the last of which he leaves in. He's a fairly short term companion, but then so's Adam.) Brewster, by the way, could totally be Fitz and Turlough's agent in the lower forms.
